Aston Villa face AS Roma for the first time in a pre-season friendly at Walsall’s Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium in early August.

The Serie A club, who finished fifth in the Italian top-flight last season, have never previously faced the Claret & Blues.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s I Lupi were UEFA Conference League winners in 2021/22 and beaten finalists in the UEFA Europa League in 2022/23.

Roma will provide stern opposition for Unai Emery’s side after the tour of the USA and as preparations ahead of the new season are finalised.
