Aston Villa face Real Sociedad in a pre-season friendly at Walsall’s Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium in late July.

The La Liga club, who finished 10th in the Spanish top-flight last season, were also winners of the Copa del Rey for the fourth time after victory over Atletico Madrid to earn a place in the UEFA Europa League for 2026/27.

Pellegrino Matarazzo’s Txuri-Urdin boast talents such as Spain striker Mikel Oyarzabal, Japan international Takefusa Kubo and former Wolves winger Goncalo Guedes who was at the 2026 World Cup with Portugal.

Sociedad will provide stern opposition for Unai Emery’s side prior to the tour of Asia and as preparations intensify ahead of the new season.
