Manchester City face familiar foes Real Madrid this March as they look to progress to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

It will be the fifth successive season that Pep Guardiola’s side have gone head-to-head with the La Liga giants, having had some epic encounters against the 15-time European Cup winners in recent seasons.

The two behemoths of European club football drew 4-4 on aggregate over two legs during 2023/24, with Los Blancos winning 6-3 on aggregate last season in Europe’s elite club competition, and this standout tie is sure to be another classic encounter on the ‘Road to Budapest 26’.

City enacted a measure of revenge over Alvaro Arbeloa’s side in December, winning 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu thanks to first-half goals from Nico O’Reilly and Erling Haaland in the league phase of this season’s competition.

That clash was the Blues’ ninth with Real since April 2022 and City will be eager to test themselves once again when they bring their star-studded side of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and co. to Manchester.
