Glasgow helped “reinvent” the Commonwealth Games this summer and Ignition Sports Media played its part in delivering a 2026 Games never to be forgotten.
Athletes from 74 nations and territories competed across the 11-day multi-sport festival in July 2026, as 435,000 tickets were sold to sporting fans attending existing venues within an eight-mile radius.

Glasgow stepped up to deliver a sustainable, scaled-back Games across four venues and chief executive of Glasgow 2026, Phil Batty, told BBC Scotland News: “We have created a Games that will inspire more nations to host but, probably more importantly, that every nation feels it could host at some point in the next 100 years.”

Ignition wrote, designed and produced more than 30,000 publications to help support the competition, starting with a 100-page Opening Ceremony official programme for a spectacular curtain raiser at The Hydro that included a headline performance from KT Tunstall and an entrance from King Charles III.
That was backed up by a bumper 132-page A4 size Commemorative edition that was packed with exclusive features from competitors across all of the sporting disciplines.

Records tumbled, legacies ended and new stars emerged throughout a compelling Games, whether it was South African swimmer Chad le Clos becoming the most decorated athlete in the tournament’s 96-year history or world record holder Josh Kerr’s memorable mile, it was ultimately Australia that dominated the medal table by amassing 171 in total.

Ignition’s Commercial Director Lee Berry said: “Scotland finished fifth in the overall medals table, behind Canada and India, and we hope that the two publications we produced to honour the Games will be treasured memorabilia for years to come after a truly historic performance from the host nation.”
