English football’s most-played league fixture returns to the scheduling this month as Aston Villa meet Everton once again.
The Premier League stalwarts clash at Villa Park on Saturday 13th August, with former England team-mates Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard crossing swords in the dug-out.
The two sides first met in September 1888, the Claret and Blues winning 2-1, and since then there have been another 208 league fixtures between the two.
Although Villa have had the upper hand over the Merseysiders in recent years, unbeaten in the last six meetings stretching back until 2016, the overall head to head record between the pair is very close.
Villa edge the win ratio 77 to 76, with 55 draws, and the latest instalment between two of English football’s most cherished institutions is not to be missed.
