There was a clamour for the official matchday programme like never before after Grimsby Town celebrated one of their most famous nights by eliminating Manchester United from the Carabao Cup.
In a first meeting against the Red Devils since 1948 in August, it was the League Two Mariners who produced one of the competition’s greatest upsets. They stunned their top-flight visitors by racing into a 2-0 lead inside half-an-hour at Blundell Park with goals from Charles Vernam and Tyrell Warren, only to be hauled back by the Premier League behemoths at the death by a Harry Maguire equaliser.
However, David Artell’s side were not to be denied one of the greatest results in the club’s history by coming out on top of a 12-11 penalty shoot-out victory. Cue a pitch invasion, a sea of bouncing inflatable ‘Harry Haddocks’ and instant world-wide demand for club merchandise to celebrate the huge shock.

Ignition Sports Media have been long-time publication partners of ‘The Mariner’ and produced a bumper 100-page commemorative matchday programme for the Premier League side’s visit to North East Lincolnshire.
ISM Commercial Director Lee Berry commented: “We produced more than 10,000 programmes for this particular tie and I’ve no doubt that this issue will be a cherished piece of memorabilia for years to come with the result going into club folklore after Town beat their more illustrious opponents.
“This is one of the reasons why matchday publications remain integral, even in this digital age, as this programme will be kept safe for decades and passed down through the generations alongside an underdog tale of, ‘I was there when we beat Manchester United…’.
“It’s really heart-warming to see the club on the rise and we wish them all the best in the next round.”
