The new season across the EFL commences this weekend and a host of clubs in Ignition Sports Media’s portfolio are bucking the recent trend to produce bumper editions.
Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Birmingham City have all increased the paginations of their revered matchday publications for the new campaign, with a willingness to provide their football-hungry fanbases with even more exclusive content.
The trio’s ‘UTB’,‘Red & White’ and ‘Blues News’ titles have joined Southampton and Queens Park Rangers in committing to produce 68-page issues for every Championship home game during 2022/23, and the upscaling has not just been confined to the second-tier either.
League One Barnsley will also be providing their dedicated supporters with a top-drawer offering as they search for promotion, with ‘Oakwell Review’ devoted to a 68-page glossy edition every matchday.
Sheffield United and Leeds United continue to lead by example with stellar 100-page tomes, while the world’s oldest professional football club Notts County also remain staunch traditionalists.
‘The Mag’ won its second successive National League Programme of the Year award last season and is back to chronicle another landmark year in the club’s prestigious history following promotion back into the EFL.
County’s Media and Communications Manager Nick Richardson commented: “I’d like to thank our production partners Ignition Sports Media for their ongoing support, along with our fantastic contributors. In a world where print costs are rising and the appetite for digital content is ever-increasing, the value of programmes is an emotive subject of much debate, but particularly for what will be a landmark season for the club, we feel it is right for us to continue.”
