Ignition Sports Media produced a commemorative publication in tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva for Preston North End’s pre-season friendly against Liverpool in July.
The fixture was the first time the Premier league champions had been in action since the tragic deaths of the brothers earlier this month.
North End made the decision to dedicate their entire matchday programme, ‘The One and Only’, to the duo with everyone in the 20,000 strong Deepdale crowd handed a free copy as a mark of respect.
The touching tribute was part of a series of poignant moments scheduled before kick-off with Claudia Rose Maguire, wife of former North End player Sean, singing a rendition of ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’, followed by Liverpool’s iconic anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.
Both sets of players also wore black armbands for the off-season fixture and digital tributes were displayed across the stadium’s big screen ahead of a minute’s silence.
Ignition’s Commercial Director Lee Berry commented: “The free programme to supporters in attendance at Deepdale for this pre-season friendly is a classy act from Preston North End and a concept we were keen to support them on. The issue showcases heartfelt tributes from many of Jota’s Liverpool and Portugal team-mates, and from across the wider footballing community, and we hope it provides a fitting tribute to the Reds’ No.20.”
